High precision fixed gain fully differential amplifier/ADC driver with low power consumption

Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) announces the LTC6363-0.5, LTC6363-1, and LTC6363-2 precision, fixed-gain, fully differential amplifiers, an ultra-precise fixed-gain version of the proven LTC6363 amplifier. The new products offer fixed gains of 0.5, 1 and 2V/V, providing the flexibility to adjust the input to the ADC full scale.

Precision resistors integrated into the LTC6363-0.5, LTC6363-1, and LTC6363-2 are designed with overall system performance in mind, achieving a balance between noise and linearity, and high precision with laser-tuned factory calibration This accuracy is not only difficult to achieve with discrete device solutions, but also costly to implement. The initial gain accuracy is 45ppm (maximum) and the maximum variation over the entire temperature range is only 0.5ppm/oC. The common-mode rejection ratio, which is usually limited by discrete resistor matching, achieves an excellent 94dB (minimum), which is equivalent to 0.002% resistor matching.

“One of the challenges when driving high-performance SAR ADCs is to find a suitable driver with similar power levels while maintaining the noise and linearity of the ADC. "The noise and linearity of the LTC6363 family have negligible impact on ADC performance, while power consumption is only 19mW, and the power of the ADC. The level of consumption is comparable. Now, with the LTC6363-0.5, LTC6363-1 and LTC6363-2, you get the same ADC drive performance and the added precision provided by precision integrated resistors. The same compact MSOP8 package."

The LTC6363's entire family operates from a 2.8V (±1.4V) to 11V (±5.5V) supply voltage and draws a typical supply current of 1.75mA. These device specifications have an operating temperature range of –40 °C to 125 °C. The LTC6363 fixed gain series is available in a 3mm x 5mm plastic MSOP8 package, while the LTC6363 (without resistors) is also available in a small 2mm x 3mm DFN package.
