Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) announced the introduction of the Power by LinearTM LTC2972, a dual-channel power system manager that monitors the current, power, and power consumption of intermediate bus inputs to point-of-load (POL) converters. Monitoring board power and energy usage is the first step in managing, optimizing, and reducing power consumption. It is designed to reduce server rack and data center cooling and utility costs. The LTC2972 conveniently provides input energy consumption (reported in joules) and run-time information through a PMBus interface, sharing host's heavy polling and computing tasks. When combined with digital measurements of the POL output voltage, current, and power, the LTC2972 provides long-term monitoring of power system conversion efficiency. The LTC2972 adds software-based, comprehensive monitoring and control to power systems on FPGAs, ASICs, and DSP circuit boards, accelerating time to market, improving system reliability, and optimizing board power consumption.
Littelfuse has introduced the PLED family with ultra-low holding current (only 21mA), which enables ballast drivers widely used in fluorescent tube outputs to be compatible with modern LED strings or tubes for replacement. Therefore, there is no need to discard ballasts that can still work when replacing fluorescent tubes with LED strings or lamps.
