ON Semiconductor Introduces New Low Energy USB-C Series Products, Fully Compliant with 1.3 Specifications

Two controllers and one switching device allow engineers to quickly and easily adopt USB-C without changing the architecture

ON Semiconductor (ON Semiconductor, Nasdaq: ON), which promotes energy-efficient innovation, announced the introduction of the latest USB-C (Type-C) series devices, fully compliant with the latest revised specification 1.3, allowing designers to easily integrate USB-C system. The new device includes two controllers and a switch specifically targeted at applications such as smartphones, tablets and notebooks, as well as industrial and automotive use cases.

The FUSB303 port controller converts the current system and the new system to a USB-C interface, supporting applications that require source (SRC), sink (SNK), or dual role port (DRP) modes. This new device offers automatic detection with minimal processor interaction and firmware support, plus flexibility and customization options.

Mobile and ultraportable applications will benefit from the FUSB303's superior and leading-edge low-power performance. In stand-by mode, the controller consumes less than 10 microamperes (μA) and is available in an ultra-thin (1.6 x 1.6 x 0.375 mm) QFN-12 package, which is thinner than a standard CSP package for increasingly space-constrained applications. designing.

ON Semiconductor's FSUSB242 is a USB-C-compliant port protection switch that provides high voltage and surge protection. As per standard requirements, port protection switches allow multiplexing of two USB sources to the common DP/DM pin while maintaining signal integrity. The device features high voltage protection and provides up to ±20 volts of surge protection in accordance with the IEC 64000-4-5 specification, eliminating the need for an external transient voltage suppressor (TVS).

The FUSB302BV is a USB-C controller specifically designed for power supply (PD) solutions in automotive systems. Although other solutions are only suitable for consumer electronics applications, the device is AEC-Q100 certified and can be tested (including connection detection and direction detection), making it one of the most efficient and flexible products.
