The broadest broadband RF transceiver in the industry accelerates the development of 2g-5g base station and phased array radar

Sunday, June 24, 2018

Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) recently introduced the ADRV9009, the industry's widest-bandwidth RF transceiver to expand its award-winning RadioVerseTM technology and design ecosystem. The transceiver provides designers with a single radio platform to accelerate 5G deployments, support 2G/3G/4G coverage, and simplify phased array radar designs. The ADRV9009 RF transceiver provides twice the bandwidth of previous generation devices (200 MHz) and can replace up to 20 devices, reducing power consumption in half and reducing package size by 60%. With industry-leading performance and smaller size, weight, and power consumption, the ADRV9009 transceiver meets the stringent antenna densities and expanded network capacity requirements of emerging 5G wireless infrastructure equipment and aerospace systems.

The ADRV9009 is the industry's first RF transceiver to support all existing cellular standards. The device is tuned from 75 MHz to 6 GHz and supports 2G/3G/4G/5G services, so cellular equipment manufacturers can use a single compact radio design to meet all frequency bands and power requirements. The product design time can be reduced by up to half, and the deployment and maintenance of multi-band, multi-standard communication equipment can also be simplified.

Nitin Sharma, general manager of Analog Devices' Transceiver Products Division, said: "For the first time, cellular communication device designers have a common radio platform to handle emerging broadband applications such as 5G, while also providing the required 2G, 3G and 4G applications. high performance."

The wide bandwidth, low power consumption, and small size of the ADRV9009 allow designers to meet the increasing number of radio channels required for 5G massive MIMO devices. The new RF transceiver is a single-chip TDD solution that can also be used to design portable laboratory-grade 5G test and measurement equipment for on-site testing of cellular and IoT networks.

For aerospace systems, the ADRV9009 can simultaneously meet the high performance requirements of broadband and narrowband applications. The new RF transceiver platform also features fast frequency hopping to improve link security and spectrum efficiency.

For advanced cellular and phased array radar systems, the ADRV9009 simplifies the digital beamforming design with on-chip processing of local oscillator (LO) synchronization without the need for an external LO.

RadioVerse Design and Technology Ecosystem Accelerates Wireless Development

The RadioVerseTM design and technology ecosystem accelerates advanced radio design and development, including market-leading integrated radio platforms, software tools, evaluation and prototyping platforms, a range of reference designs, and comprehensive radio solutions. To accelerate time-to-market for customers using the ADRV9009 RF transceiver, the RadioVerse ecosystem provides the JESD204B FPGA Integration Framework (a production-ready RF System-on-Module (RF-SoM) with dual channel ADRV9009 devices) and is available through a global partner network. Customers provide additional design and technical services.
