ADI Introduces Industry's First Intrinsically Safe Certified Digital Isolation Product

ADI introduces the industry's only certified intrinsically safe (IS) digital isolator based on the IEC 60079-11:2011 standard. These 4-channel ADuM144x series digital isolators feature iCoupler® technology and are ideal for electrical equipment designs used in hazardous areas.

Analog Devices' IS-IS-certified digital isolators reduce the required printed circuit board space compared to traditional optocouplers, simplifying design and reducing the need for multiple diodes and resistors The number of components reduces design complexity. These IS-IS digital isolators offer higher data rates, operate more efficiently, and reduce installation costs compared to other protection methods. In addition, these innovative digital isolators feature ultra-low power consumption that limits the amount of power required to isolate in hazardous areas. ADI's ADuM144x quad digital isolation devices are available in a small 16-pin QSOP (2.5kV) package and a 20-lead SSOP (3.75kV) package.

Utilizing ADI's ADuM144x low-power 4-channel digital isolators based on proven iCoupler® technology, designers can eliminate isolation, cost, size, power, performance and reliability limitations of optocouplers. These magnetically isolated products have shipped more than 1.8 billion isolation channels, combining high-speed complementary metal oxide semiconductors (CMOS) with monolithic air core transformers for safety, reliability, and ease of use. The ADuM144x digital isolator has a supply voltage as low as 2.25 V, making it ideal for applications such as industrial field instruments.
