Thyristor-based transient voltage suppression (TVS) device is an overvoltage protection device that approximates an open circuit under normal operating conditions. A voltage applied between them above a certain value leads them to enter a conductive state that approximates a short circuit. This state continues until the current passing through the device is reduced below a minimum value due to some external influence within the circuit.
