ADI recently introduced the AD9208, a new family of high-speed analog-to-digital converters (A/D converters). Designed for gigahertz bandwidth applications, this ADC is designed to meet the higher spectral efficiency requirements of 4G/5G multi-band wireless communication base stations. The device also meets the goal of reducing run time in multi-standard production instruments and provides greater detection range and sensitivity for defense electronics applications. Based on 28nm CMOS technology, the AD9208 achieves industry-leading bandwidth and dynamic range, covering the most signal bands. It also features the low noise spectral density required for diversity RF receive and I/Q demodulation systems, while consuming only half the power of other solutions. The AD9208 and the entire new product portfolio will be presented at the International Microwave Technology Symposium.
Optimized for large bandwidth inputs, high sample rates, excellent linearity, and low package power consumption, the dual-channel, 14-bit AD9208 features industry-standard interfaces for designers to choose processor platforms flexibly and use ADI's wideband RF data acquisition technology Perform signal processing. The new analog-to-digital converter's sampling speeds of up to 3.0 GSPS make it easy to implement a direct RF signal processing architecture and also provide high-speed oversampling. This simplifies front-end filtering, which reduces receiver design complexity and total system cost. The AD9208 provides direct RF sampling of wideband signals above 6 GHz for greater flexibility, eliminating the need for mixers and simplifying system design with internal clock dividers and optional RF clock outputs. The AD9172, a 28-nm digital-to-analog converter (D/A converter) introduced at the same time, is the corresponding RFDAC.
