Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) announced the launch of three enhanced automotive audio bus (A2B®) transceivers that provide unprecedented system performance customization capabilities to meet the most stringent electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements.
The new AD242x family offers configurable transmit power levels, allowing developers to adapt system performance to specific OEM EMC requirements - the key design criteria for all feature-rich automotive infotainment systems. These transceivers can also be used for extended applications such as microphone connections, distributing audio, control data, clocks, and power through a single unshielded twisted pair, significantly reducing cabling complexity. These features greatly reduce system costs and are well suited for emerging multi-microphone applications such as road noise cancellation, in-vehicle communications, and autonomous driving. The new AD2426W, AD2427W, and AD2428W devices are fully pin-compatible with existing family members, simplifying product upgrades and reducing time-to-market.
ADI's A2B technology provides a fully deterministic, scalable, and cost-effective way to meet the stringent performance requirements of next-generation delay-sensitive audio and voice applications. The latest generation of pin-compatible A2B transceivers expands the A2B core feature set, adding features that increase system-level flexibility, especially in microphone array applications. The new AD242x devices can route data from up to four PDM microphones to a local I2S port for beamforming or other local data processing. The AD242x also has other enhancements that allow simultaneous reception of up to four PDM microphone inputs and additional I2S audio streams to solve advanced microphone connection application problems.
The AD2426W, AD2427W, and AD2428W meet all relevant automotive ESD, EMI, and EMC requirements, are AEC-Q100 certified, and operate over the extended automotive temperature range (-40°C to +105°C).
