Allegro MicroSystems, LLC announced the release of two new N-channel power MOSFET driver ICs that can control MOSFETs connected in a half-bridge configuration. Allegro's A4926 and A4927 are designed for automotive applications with high power inductive loads and are suitable for DC pumps (brake, oil, water and fuel), HVAC, solenoids and actuators. . These devices are particularly suited for automotive systems that must meet ASIL requirements. Like all other products in the Allegro A2SILTM family, the A4926 and A4927 have integrated enough features to complete the system design and help users achieve the required ASIL level requirements.

The A4926 and A4927 integrate a unique charge pump regulator that provides a complete gate drive for most applications, even when the battery voltage is as low as 5.5V. They have bootstrap capacitors that can be selected for management and can be used to provide the required supply voltage above the battery for N-channel MOSFETs. The half-bridge can be controlled by an independent logic level input or an SPI-compatible serial interface. External power MOSFETs are protected by programmable dead time to avoid shoot-through.

The integrated diagnostic capabilities of the A4926 and A4927 provide indications of many internal faults, system faults, and power bridge faults, and can be configured to protect the power MOSFETs in most digital short-circuit conditions.
