Diodes' AP22811 and AP22804/AP22814 power switches

The AP22811 and AP22804/AP22814 power switches from Diodes feature ultra-low on-resistance to reduce power consumption; they are optimized for Universal Serial Bus (USB) and other hot-swap applications. Supporting 2.0A, 2.5A, and 3.0A load currents, these devices protect USB ports from overcurrent, short-circuit, and overtemperature conditions and prevent system damage due to reverse current or voltage. Typical applications include laptops, laptops and tablets, solid state drives, set-top boxes and similar media devices, as well as a variety of other consumer electronics devices.

The typical RDS(ON) of 50mΩ ensures that the AP22811/22804/22814 load switch withstands minimal voltage drop and power loss while also providing fast response to fault conditions. These devices offer a built-in soft-start with 0.6s rise time and an integrated output discharge function to control the full discharge of the output voltage capacitor. The fail-safe feature is implemented with fully automatic recovery and open-drain fault report flag output (FLG), eliminating the need for external components and with a 6ms blanking time to prevent false overcurrent reporting.

The AP228xx device option allows for active-high or active-low enable inputs; all devices are available in SOT-25 and MSOP-8 packages for ease of use. The AP22804 and AP22814 devices are also available in a DFN2020-6 package to help reduce board space.
