Diodes Corp.'s USB 3.1 Gen 1 / Gen 2 Type-C Controller integrates advanced capabilities to supply next-generation devices

Today announced the PI5USB30213A USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5Gbps) and PI5USB31213A USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gbps) USB Type-C ™ controllers with CC channel logic and 5V VCONN sources.

By integrating the logic required for the negotiation-based configuration control, both devices can operate as either DFP or SOURCE; UFP, drain, or DRP can be used as Source and drain data and power supply to operate.

The CC1 and CC2 pins are Type-C connectors that allow the host, hub, and peripheral devices to determine the presence or absence of a device, the orientation of the connector, and / or how the device is powered or not. These new controllers provide support for CC logic functions and enable many of the features that consumers are currently keen to experience, using just one cable to share power and data between devices, regardless of cable orientation.
