Diodes Introduces World's First Power Switcher Fully Supporting USB Type-C Power Transfer and Fast-Use Switching

Saturday, August 4, 2018

Diodes' DPS1133 single-channel power switch is the world's first high-voltage power switch designed to meet all the stringent protection and fast-use switching needs of USB Type-CTM ports. This product is suitable for a wide range of mobile and desktop computing devices and peripheral devices, as well as consumer electronics, mobile communications, industrial and medical markets, such as smart phones, AR / VR glasses, robots, Car infotainment and home appliances.

The DPS1133 is specifically designed to protect the line between VBUS and USB Type-C connectors, meets the fast-purpose switching (FRS) timing conditions defined by the latest version of USB Power Transfer Specification 3.0 V1.1, and supports all allowed USB-C ports. Operating modes: Downstream Use (DFP), Upstream Use (UFP) and Dual Use (DRP). Designed to operate from 4.5V to 24V, the DPS1133 can be supplied or used up to 3.5A via a USB Type-C connector with automatic protection against overvoltage, overcurrent, short circuit, reverse voltage and overtemperature. With the fault recovery function, no system controller intervention is required.

The DPS1133 power switch has low on-state resistance (typically ≤30mΩ) and a maximum continuous current of 3.5A to help minimize power consumption. The thermally efficient QFN4040-17 package also ensures that the surface remains cool during operation. . This product can use external resistors to adjust multiple device parameters, such as voltage and current limits and ramp times, for improved applicability. The control pin also allows the input and output ports to discharge through the internal resistor.
