Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) Announces Power by LinearTM's LTM4662, a Dual 15A or Single 30A Step-Down μModule® Regulator in BGA Package with an Exposed Barrier Inductor Improve heat dissipation. The complete device including the rest of the components (MOSFETs, DC/DC controllers, and support components) is housed in a 11.25mm x 15mm x 5.74mm BGA package with a molded resin seal process. The LTM4662 can be easily cooled with limited airflow because stacked inductors transfer heat from the power stage to the surrounding ambient air. The LTM4662 operates with a peak efficiency of up to 96%, allowing it to continue to provide 30A full current (at 70°C ambient temperature and 200LFM airflow) in 12VIN to 1.0VOUT conversion applications. With its dual-channel regulator design, small package size, and accurate voltage accuracy, the LTM4662 meets the PCB area constraints of high-density system boards, enabling low-voltage and high-current devices such as FPGAs, ASICs, microprocessors, and GPUs. powered by. Applications for this device include PCIe boards, communications infrastructure, cloud-based systems, and medical, industrial, and test and measurement equipment.
The LTM4662 operates over an input voltage range of 4.5V to 20V. When using 5V external bias, the device can work at 2.375V. The output voltage can be adjusted from 0.6V to 5.5V, making the device not only capable of generating low voltage for digital devices, but also 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5V commonly required in system bus voltages. Ensure a total output voltage DC accuracy of ±1.5% over the entire voltage, load, and temperature range (–40°C to 125°C). Both LTM4662s can share current to provide 60A to one load. In addition, the built-in remote sampling amplifier on both outputs compensates for the voltage drop caused by the PC board trace impedance (due to large load currents). The LTM4662 has optional internal or external feedback loop compensation, allowing the user to optimize loop stability and transient performance while minimizing the number of output capacitors.
The LTM4662's switching frequency can be set from 250kHz to 1MHz with a resistor, and can also be synchronized to an external clock with a frequency range of 250kHz to 1MHz for applications sensitive to noise. Protection features include overvoltage and overcurrent protection.
The LTM4662 operates over a temperature range of –40°C to 125°C.
