TC3xx

As more and more cars have networking and autonomous driving capabilities, the embedded messaging security of automotive communications becomes even more critical. Infineon Technologies AG and ESCRYPT Ltd. are working closely together in the field of automotive network security to deliver a solution designed to encrypt on-board communications and enhance communications while taking into account future security needs. The solution is based on Infineon's second-generation family of AURIX ™ (TC3xx) multicore microcontrollers and CycurHSM security software tailored by ESCRYPT.

This hardware-software all-in-one solution has made it harder to operate electronic control units (ECUs). Hyundai Motor, which is typically powered by about 60 ECUs that communicate with each other, will help improve the information security of applications such as software over-the-air (SOTA) and autopilot.

This software and hardware-based solution, AURIX and CycurHSM, offers significant security improvements over pure software-based solutions. Each TC3xx microcontroller now has a hardware security module (HSM) embedded in it. By physically encapsulating the safety functions in the HSM, the ECU's main controller can focus on performing its own tasks.

ECU manufacturers can also benefit from other aspects: Because this hardware - software solutions are very easy to implement. It meets AUTOSAR requirements and no longer requires the development of additional security features - support for configuring CycurHSM software. This holistic solution can reduce development costs for up to 90% of automotive messaging security. Thanks to this, system vendor developers can focus on developing advanced software for new applications.

The AURIX microcontroller family is a key component of automotive embedded safety solutions. They control the communication process, perform monitoring and security tasks, and also support security protocols. Among them, the key generated and saved by the HSM in order to achieve a safe start, brush writing and debugging. With symmetric cryptography and asymmetric cryptographic mechanisms (AES-128, ECC 256, SHA2), HSM improves tamper-protection protection in automotive software, internal or external data transfer and avoids installing malware and updating unauthorized software .

As the world's first supplier of embedded security software systems, ESCRYPT has a tailor-made software stack for Cyrus and HSM - CycurHSM. It implements a range of hardware-based security features such as data encryption and authentication, True Random Number Generator (TRNG) applications, and Secure Flash. Not only that, but the solution includes a number of security features such as operational monitoring, which monitors application certification at run time.

Thomas Boehm, senior director of Infineon Chassis and ADAS Applications Microcontroller, said: "AURIX is a key component of the car, now and in the future, as it increases the complexity of attempting to manipulate the ECU. AURIX and the coordinator software stack CycurHSM The combination will further enhance the safety of in-vehicle information and ease the task of system vendors in their development efforts. "

Frederic Stumpf, head of product management at ESCRYPT, believes that securing information is a prerequisite for connected autopilot: "The combination of AURIX, a high-end hardware platform, and state-of-the-art HSM software brings the automotive industry an advanced model for the future." Prove that cooperation can make the car information to achieve the best results.
