
Linear introduces the LT8315, a high voltage monolithic flyback regulator that simplifies the design of isolated DC/DC converters. The device samples the reflected isolated output voltage across the third winding on the power transformer, eliminating the need for an optical isolator or the LT1431. Operating over an input voltage range of 18V to 560V, the LT8315 features a 0.30A/630V integrated power switch and delivers up to 15W of output power, making it ideal for electric vehicles and battery packs, as well as offline, automotive, industrial and medical applications. .
Several off-the-shelf transformers identified in the product manual are available for a wide range of applications. Operating in quasi-resonant boundary mode, the LT8315 is a variable frequency current mode control switching scheme that achieves better than ±1% load and voltage regulation. The boundary mode allows the use of a smaller transformer than the equivalent continuous conduction mode design. The use of highly integrated and low ripple Burst Mode® operation provides an easy to use, low component count and high efficiency application solution for isolated power supplies.
Other features include output short-circuit protection, 70μA no-load operation quiescent current, accurate enable and hysteresis undervoltage lockout, and output diode temperature compensation.
The LT8315 is available in a TSSOP-20 package with four pins removed to meet high voltage pin spacing requirements. Extended and industrial versions operate over a junction temperature range of -40oC to 125oC. The high temperature automotive grade version has an operating temperature range of -40 oC to 150 oC.
