Linear Technology Corporation of Analog Devices Introduces High-Efficiency, 4MHz Synchronous Dual-Output Buck Regulators LTC3636 and LTC3636-1

Linear Technology Corporation, a member of Analog Devices, Inc., introduces the high-efficiency, 4MHz synchronous dual-output buck regulator LTC3636 and LTC3636-1. Unique constant frequency / controlled on-time, current mode control scheme with lockable switching frequency.

In addition, its innovative design architecture reduces conduction and radiated emissions. These devices can provide up to 6A of continuous output current per channel, or produce up to 12A of two-phase single output. Both devices are available in a compact 4mm x 5mm QFN package suitable for output voltages as low as 0.6V. The LTC3636/-1 operates from an input voltage range of 3.1V to 20V, while the LTC3636's output voltage detection range is from 0.6V to 5V, and the LTC3636-1 is from 1.8V to 12V, making it ideal for dual-cell Li-Ion applications and 5V and 12V Intermediate bus system.

The two channels operate 180 degrees out of phase, minimizing the size of the input and output capacitors. The two outputs can be combined in a two-phase configuration to provide up to 12A of output current. Burst Mode® operation maximizes efficiency at light loads, requiring 600 μA at no load. Other features include a chip temperature monitor, power good voltage indicator, output voltage tracking function, independent soft start function for each channel, short circuit protection, input over voltage and over temperature protection.
