Ideal for heating and phase control, motor speed control and switching applications such as converter/rectifier and CDI
Littelfuse, Inc., a global leader in the field of circuit protection, today announced the introduction of high temperature SCR (silicon controlled rectifier) thyristors - the first of its kind with a junction temperature of up to 150°C and compact surface mount D-PAK (TO- 252) Package. This product is also available in through-hole V-PAK (TO-251) packages. At a voltage of approximately 1.5V, the gate current trigger level of the standard SJ-series SCR thyristors is as low as 6mA (up to 15 mA). The gate trigger current of sensitive products in this series is less than 200μA. Sensitive gate thyristors are easily triggered by induction coils, proximity switches, and microprocessors.
SJ series SCR thyristors in D-PAK and V-PAK packages
“Although the SJ Series is available in compact D-PAK and V-PAK packages, its junction temperature of up to 150°C can achieve comparable performance in larger package SCR thyristors such as TO-220AB and TO-263 because of its performance. More extensive,” said Koichiro Yoshimoto, Business Development Manager, Littelfuse Semiconductor Business Unit. “Designers can use this series of products with high junction temperature and excellent surge processing capability to replace the existing TO-263 package with the larger TO-220AB. SCR thyristors and let others design more compact products."
SJ series SCR thyristors have the following key advantages:
The junction temperature of up to 150°C provides a wider operating range for existing designs and uses smaller heat sinks in new designs.
The compact D-PAK and V-PAK packages can replace the TO-220AB and TO-263 packages for a more compact board design.
The reliable clip-on package design provides high surge protection and can withstand harsh operating environments.
High di/dt values increase voltage output in capacitive discharge ignition applications.
