Compact automotive fuses save space on crowded circuit boards
Littelfuse, Inc. today announced the launch of a family of surface mount fuses rated for up to 1500A of breaking current, suitable for high voltage automotive applications up to 350VAC or 450/500VDC. The size of the 885 series fuses is only 10.86mm x 4.78mm, which is the smallest size surface-mount fuse on the market for 450/500VDC automotive applications. This series of products are limited in circuit board space and are not suitable for applications with traditional through-hole fuses. Ideal choice. The 885 series is rated from 1A to 5A.
Typical automotive applications for the 885 Series fuses include:
Lithium-ion battery pack for electric vehicles
Battery Management System (BMS)
Induction line
Car Charger
High-voltage DC/DC converters
"The 885 Series Fuse can handle the space constraints that are common in automotive applications," said Daniel Wang, director of global product management at Littelfuse's Electronic Products business unit. "Their welding-free platform minimizes the risk of mis-breakage and ensures consistent overload performance. Mis-breakage is usually caused by mechanical bonding failures associated with conventional fuse welding."
The 855 Series fuses have the following key advantages:
The 855 Series Fuse is a well-designed, solderless platform that minimizes the risk of mis-breakage due to mechanical bond failures, improves performance, and provides consistent and consistent functionality.
Compliance with Littelfuse's automotive product requirements based on the AEC-Q200 test plan ensures reliable performance in harsh automotive environments.
