Littelfuse Introduces Three AEC-Q200-Compliant PolySwitch Automotive Self-Recovering PPTC Device Family

Littelfuse, Inc., a global leader in circuit protection, today announced three AEC-Q200-compliant PolySwitch self-healing polymer positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) device families. These surface mount devices are designed to provide perfect overcurrent protection in extreme automotive environments. Unlike fuses, the self-recovering PPTC does not need to be replaced after a fault; the circuit will resume normal operation after the power supply removal and/or overcurrent conditions have disappeared.

Compared to the existing 2920-size ASMD series of surface mount PPTCs, the newest 2820-size ASMDC series in the new device is smaller and has no heavy metal terminals. It also has the highest holding current and rated voltage among the three. The smallest 0603 size femtoASMD series and the 0805 size picoASMD series in the new device are suitable for automotive electronic boards with limited space.

The PolySwitch ASMDC, femtoASMD, and picoASMD family of self-healing PPTCs have the following key benefits:
