Melexis, a global microelectronics engineering company, announced the release of MLX90818, a new high-precision pressure sensor designed for demanding media applications in the automotive industry.

The new MLX90818 is a factory calibrated absolute pressure transducer with a range of 1.0 to 5.5 bar and is ideal for common naturally aspirated, direct injection fuel and turbocharged engines. This highly integrated sensor provides an external NTC signal processing channel for temperature measurement in a small 4mm x 5mm DFN package. The MLX90818 is by far the smallest size device requiring only a small number of external components, allowing OEMs to easily develop small, rugged intake manifold pressure (MAP) sensors.

As the only available component solution that does not expose metals that can be corroded, this device offers the best possible harsh media compatibility, especially for high concentrations found in modern engines that are smaller and lighter Halogen environment. The MLX90818 has 18V overvoltage capability and operates over the -40 ° C to + 150 ° C temperature range and is suitable for all in-hood applications.

The device's pressure accuracy of ± 0.5% to ± 0.75% for market-leading lifetime at 150 ° C is ideal for high-precision MAP and EGR sensors, helping to significantly reduce NOx emissions and contribute to global warming. CO2 emissions.

The output of the MLX90818 is fully compliant with the J2716 Single-Ended Nibble Transmission (SENT) protocol, enabling quick and easy configuration configuration to suit different customer needs.

For the MLX90818, Melexis offers factory calibration; for small batch applications, customers can also use the proven software tools available directly from Melexis to configure the device through application pins.
