Microchip Introduces Its Most Powerful 8-Bit PIC Microcontroller Family - PIC16F15386 Series

Microchip Technology Inc. has introduced its PIC16F15386 family of the most powerful 8-bit PIC® microcontroller (MCU) family. In addition to Microchip's existing core-independent peripherals (CIP), the family includes a 32MHz high-precision internal oscillator and a variety of memory features, such as memory access partitions with bootloader-friendly write protection (MAP) ) to avoid accidental rewriting. The Device Information Area (DIA) provides protected memory to store unique device identification and calibration values. The PIC16F15386 family also provides users with a complete, easy-to-use development experience that enables designers to quickly generate application code using MPLAB® Xpress in conjunction with the Microchip MPLAB® Code Configurator (MCC). This family of devices is suitable for a wide range of general purpose and low power applications.

The scalable family of devices includes up to 28KB of flash memory and 2KB of RAM, and is available in a variety of package options from 8 to 48 pins. This is the first 8-bit PIC MCU family to offer a 48-pin package with additional analog-to-digital converter (ADC) channels and I/O. The series features a high level of CIP integration that performs multiple system functions (signal generation, motor control, safety monitoring, system communication, and human machine interface) outside the core with as little power as possible. The new MCU also includes power management features (idle and hiccup mode, and peripheral module disable states) to help engineers achieve the best balance between power and performance.
