NXP introduced the smallest 8-bit S08 microcontrollers for the general market

Saturday, October 14, 2017

NXP's new 3 x 3 x 0.9 mm package The S08 MCU further expands its S08 MCU product family to meet the broad market demand for micro 8-bit MCUs

NXP Semiconductors Announces Its Smallest 8-Bit S08 Microcontroller (MCU) - MC9S08PA4AVDC Microcontroller. This product is a new package, the size of only 3 x 3 x 0.9 mm, without increasing the cost of BOM under the premise of helping the future technology to face the PCB space is shrinking technical problems. The MC9S08PA4AVDC can be used in a variety of size-constrained applications that require the use of micro-MCUs, such as industrial control, BLDC motor control and Internet of Things (IoT) control.

The advent of the MC9S08PA4AVDC MCU complements NXP's low-cost, high-performance HCS08 family of 8-bit microcontrollers. The new MCU uses the enhanced HCS08 central processor and offers a variety of peripherals, memory capacity and product type. With the 8-bit S08 core, the MC9S08PA4AVDC MCU operates over a full temperature range (operating voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V) with a bus frequency of up to 20 MHz, providing greater durability and flexibility in harsh industrial and user interface environments And reliability. In addition, the MCU will be up to 4KB flash memory, 128 bytes of EEPROM and 512 bytes of RAM all integrated in a single chip.

NXP's S08 microcontrollers, including the latest MC9S08PA4AVDC, can use CodeWarrior as an independent development tool (IDE), a low-cost stand-alone demonstration board designed to demonstrate the functionality of the MC9S08P family. It is equipped with a demonstration program, can be cost-effective and rapid product evaluation and application development.

NXP is constantly expanding the 8-bit MCU market, this new mini-packaged products available in a timely manner, is bound to help customers in the development of new solutions to save system size and BOM costs.
