A new series of ruggedized ENYCAPTM electrical double layer energy storage capacitors

225 EDLC double-layer capacitors for harsh, high-humidity environments with a lifespan of 2000 hours and tested with live 85/85 1000 hours

Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the launch of a new series of ruggedized ENYCAPTM electrical double layer energy storage capacitors, the 225 EDLC-R ENYCAP, for energy harvesting in harsh, high humidity environments. And backup power. Vishay BCcomponents 225 EDLC-R ENYCAP is the industry's first product to achieve a lifetime of 2,000 hours at +85°C. It has been tested with live 85/85 1000 hours and has the highest resistance to moisture.

The life of the capacitors released today is twice that of standard electric double-layer capacitors, enabling maintenance-free operation and very good design flexibility. This capacitor is highly resistant to moisture and can be used in a variety of industrial, renewable energy and automotive applications including smart meters, hand-held electronic devices, robots, solar panels, electronic latches, and emergency lighting.

The 225 EDLC-R ENYCAP capacitors are available in 8 package sizes from 16mm x 20mm to 18mm x 40mm, with a power density of 4.1Wh/kg, capacitance from 20F to 60F, and a maximum voltage rating of 2.7V. The device is RoHS compliant and can be quickly charged and discharged, providing through-hole versions.

Samples of 225 ELDC-R ENYCAP capacitors are available now and are in volume production, with lead times of six weeks for larger orders.
