Renesas Electronics introduces the industry's most efficient and smallest multi-phase power management IC ISL91302B, ISL91301A/B

The ISL91302B can deliver up to 20A of output current and 94% peak efficiency for application processors, artificial intelligence processors, industrial MPUs, and FPGAs, all within the 70 mm2 solution size.

Renesas Electronics Corp. (TSE:6723), the world's leading semiconductor solutions provider, today announced the availability of three programmable power management ICs, the ISL91302B, ISL91301A, and ISL91301B, which provide the most efficient application processor for smartphones and tablets. The new programmable power management IC introduced today uses R5 modulation technology to provide the industry's fastest single-cycle transient response, digital tuning compensation, and switching frequency up to 6MHz during load transients. These features make it easier for power supply designers to use a 2mm x 2mm, 1mm thin inductor, a small capacitor, and a small number of passive components to design a power solution.

Renesas Electronics today introduced a power management IC that does not require external compensation components or external divider resistors to set operating conditions. Each power management IC can dynamically change the number of phases of operation in the full load current range for optimum efficiency. Its ultra-low quiescent current, excellent light-load efficiency, high regulation accuracy, and fast dynamic response significantly extend the battery life of today's feature-rich, high-power electronic products.
