ROHM's Nano Pulse Control Technology Helps Further Development of 48V Vehicle Power System

<summary>

ROHM, a world-renowned semiconductor manufacturer, develops a 48V power-driven in-vehicle system such as a mild hybrid vehicle, and develops the industry's highest step-down ratio of the built-in MOSFET step-down DC 疍C converter under the 2MHz operating (switching) condition. BD9V100MUF-C".

The "BD9V100MUF-C" is equipped with the ultra-high-speed pulse control technology "Nano Pulse Control" which is based on ROHM's "circuit design", "layout" and "process" three cutting-edge analog technologies. It can input up to 60V high voltage input at 2MHz. The output is low voltage of 2.5V (the industry's highest step-down ratio is 24 to 1). This not only enables miniaturization of peripheral components, but also allows high- and low-voltage conversion structures composed of more than two power ICs. In the past, only one power IC is required, so that miniaturization and system of applications can be realized in one fell swoop. Simplification.

This product has been sold in July 2017 (sample price is 1,000 yen/piece, excluding tax). It is expected to start mass production in December 2017 with a monthly capacity of 100,000. The production base of the previous process is ROHM Hamamatsu Co., Ltd. (Hamamatsu City, Japan), and the production base of the later process is ROHM Electronics Philippines, Inc. (Philippines).

ROHM plans to develop a power supply IC for industrial equipment equipped with "Nano Pulse Control" within this year, and continue to contribute to the miniaturization and system simplification of industrial equipment.

<background>

In recent years, the 48V power supply system has been installed in the automotive field, which is increasingly demanding energy-saving and environmental protection performance (the fuel economy improvement effect is better than the previous 12V power supply system, and the cost performance is better than that of the full hybrid vehicle). The mild hybrid car is attracting attention.

However, the in-vehicle system must be kept at 2MHz, and the 3.3V or 5V power supply IC that can be directly stepped down from 48V to the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) does not exist. It is necessary to manufacture an intermediate voltage of 12V and perform a 2-step buck. .

In order to meet the demand for power ICs in the new market, ROHM has fully utilized the advantages of analog design technology and power system technology and vertical integration production system to develop ultra-high-speed pulse control technology "Nano Pulse Control" to realize "a single chip of power system".
