
Linear Technology Corporation, a member of Analog Devices, Inc., introduces the μModule® step-down regulator LTM8065, which accepts up to 40V input voltage (42V) Absolute Maximum), which safely operates from an unregulated or fluctuating 12V to 36V input supply in noisy environments including industrial robots, test and measurement, medical, factory automation, and avionics systems .
The LTM8065 provides 2.5A continuous (3.5A peak) output current from a 12V input to a 5V load without the need for a heatsink or airflow, at ambient temperatures up to 85°C. The output voltage can be adjusted with a resistor in the range of 0.97V to 18V. The switching frequency can be adjusted with an external resistor or can be synchronized to an external 200kHz to 3MHz clock. This allows customers to run the device within or outside of a specific frequency band. Burst mode quiescent current is 8μA, making this device ideal for battery-operated systems.
The LTM8065 operates over the temperature range of −40°C to 125°C.
