STMicroelectronics (ST) and Objenious work together to speed up IoT nodes to connect LoRa network

Tuesday, October 10, 2017

STMicroelectronics and LoRa Alliance, France's first nationwide provider of LoRa® networks, the world's leading semiconductor supplier across multiple electronics applications, Service telecom operator Objenious announced the technical cooperation to speed up the Internet of Things (IoT) node connecting LoRa network. Obtained Objenious network certification STMicroelectronics development kit is listed today, can significantly reduce the new LoRa equipment research and development, shorten time to market.

LoRAWAN is a low-power wide area networking (LPWAN) based on LoRa technology, creating a large number of opportunities for networking networking. LoRa technology is particularly suitable for power constrained, difficult to repair, data transmission bandwidth is not demanding network nodes, therefore, the target application is very extensive, including asset tracking, predictive maintenance. City adjustment agencies forecast that by 2020, the number of online equipment will reach tens of billions of equipment.

Objenious opened the first LoRa network in France, with more than 4,200 pairs of antennas deployed nationwide. With the network technology and roaming agreement from Bouygues Telecom, Objenious now offers its own LoRa LPWAN network, platform and service to domestic and foreign partners and customers.

From STMicrocontrollers (MCUs), security microcontrollers and sensors, to analog devices, power management, mixed-signal and connectivity communications technology, STMicroelectronics has all the key technologies needed to develop networking equipment. To simplify the STM32 embedded design, STMicroelectronics also provides the STM32 Open Development Environment (ODE) for developers free of charge, including development tools and software libraries. Integration of the Objenious network connection software in the STM32 open development environment makes it easier to develop Internet of Things devices.

Objenious CEO StéphaneAllaire said: "STMicroelectronics and Objenious cooperation allow customers to easily and quickly develop Objenious LPWAN networking equipment to promote the development of Internet of Things business.

STM32LoRa development kit has acquired Objenious network certification, is a set of very practical development tools to help developers directly across the new LoRa device R & D challenges, said Thierry Tingaud, CEO of STMicroelectronics France. In addition to pre-installed software development tools, STM32 Objenious-LoRa solution can be directly used in the ongoing operation of the network, from the surface to significantly reduce R & D investment, shorten time to market. "

The STM32 Nucleo LoRa Development Kit is now available for certification, and users can purchase development kits from STMicroelectronics sales channels.
