The 38VIN and 10A boost voltage regulator is very suitable for driving LED

Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) announces the Power by LinearTM LTM8005 step-up DC/DC μModule® (power module) regulator, which is designed to drive LEDs. The LTM8005 places a DC/DC controller, power switch, Schottky diode, and current sense resistor in a 9mm x 11.25mm x 2.22mm BGA package. The LTM8005 operates from an input voltage range of 5V to 38V and delivers up to 1.6A of regulated current at output voltages up to 38V. An external inductor is used, allowing the LTM8005 to be easily configured in different operating modes with a single coupled inductor, including boost, buck-boost, buck, and SEPIC topologies.

High reliability The H-grade version works well from –40°C to 150°C. The wide input voltage range and 150°C operating temperature make this μModule LED driver ideal for automotive and industrial lighting applications.

The operating frequency can be adjusted from 100kHz to 1MHz, and the built-in spread spectrum frequency modulation improves electromagnetic compatibility. The brightness of the LEDs can be controlled by simulating the CTRL pin and using PWM dimming with a dimming range of up to 3000:1. The LTM8005 has a number of safety features such as output disconnect short circuit protection, open LED protection, programmable input current limit, and input and output current reporting.

The LTM8005's E and I versions operate over a temperature range of –40°C to 125°C, while the H-grade version operates at temperatures up to 150°C.
