LM358 is a dual operational amplifier op amp,can be used for single-supply or dual-supply operation. Commonly used to do voltage signal acquisition front-end voltage follower, at the same time play the role of increasing the input impedance, to avoid affecting the measured voltage value.

When the LM358 operates from a single supply 5V, when IN + is input from 0 ~ 5V, its output voltage OUT can only be from 0 ~ 3.7V instead of 0 ~ 5V. That is, when the IN + input is 0 ~ 3.7V, the voltage Can be followed to OUT, when the input is greater than 3.7V, the output will still be 3.7V, the big deal.
Since the LM358 is an emitter output, the output range is up to VEE + 0.7 to VCC-0.7, which, like the TL082, has no rail to rail capability and outputs up to 3.xV.
Solution:
1, with the rail to rail op amp, for IC, not LM358, with a full voltage op amp, the industry called rail to rail op amp, such as TLC2262 commonly used in the industry, pin functions and LM358, That is to say two can be interchangeable, however, when IN + is 0- 5V, TLC2262 OUT can be from 0- 5V, of course, TLC2262 price is more expensive than LM358. 2, in the design of full-scale output voltage is designed to be 2V lower than the power supply to ensure that the output in the LM358's work area.
