Vishay Introduces AEC-Q200 Certified New 150W Thick Film Power Resistors Reduce System Component Count and Reduce Cost

Thursday, August 2, 2018

Designed for direct mounting to heat sinks, providing industry-leading power dissipation and enhanced pulse processing

Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the launch of a new AEC-Q200-certified thick film power resistor, the LTO 150, in a clip-on TO247 package that can be mounted directly to the heatsink. on. Designed for automotive applications, the Vishay Sfernice LTO 150 delivers 150W of industry-leading power dissipation and enhanced pulse handling at +45°C enclosure temperature.

The products released today are 70% more power dissipative than competing TO247 packaged devices. Reduced cooling components for resistors – saves board space, simplifies layout, and reduces overall solution cost. Compared to similar TO247 devices, the LTO 150 offers 30% better performance in energy handling, further highlighting these advantages, allowing designers to use fewer resistors.

With an operating temperature range of +175°C and a resistance range of 0.03 Ω to 1.3 MΩ, the LTO 150 can be used as an electric vehicle (EV) or hybrid electric vehicle as a pre-charge or discharge resistor for inverters, converters and car chargers. HEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV). It can also be used in general industrial and military power conversion applications. The device is RoHS compliant, with a non-inductive design, tolerances as low as ±1%, and excellent reliability test results (eg, more than 1000 temperature cycles).
