Vishay Introduces Industry's Only Synchronous Buck Regulator with Output Power Over 100W in 5mm × 5mm Package

Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE) announced the launch of its new 2A to 10A device, the SiC46x, with an input voltage of 4.5V to 60V, and expanded its microBUCK® synchronous buck regulator. The Vishay Siliconi × SiC46× device is space-saving, combining a high-performance N-channel trench MOSFET and a controller in a small MLP55-27L package for high efficiency, high power density and long-term reliability. Simplified thermal management.

Today's regulators release high-side and low-side MOSFETs with on-resistance five times lower than competing devices. The quiescent current of these devices is extremely low, achieving high efficiency over the entire load range with peak efficiency of 98%. High efficiency reduces power loss and helps system designers increase power density. The output current of the SiC46x series regulators is the industry leader and the only device that can output more than 100W in a 5mm × 5mm package.

The high efficiency coupled with the excellent thermal design of the MLP55-27L package allows the regulator to operate at lower temperatures, thereby increasing long-term reliability and eliminating the need for heat sinks. In this way, designers can reduce PCB size, simplify thermal management, and reduce system cost.

The SiC46x series regulators have a wide input voltage range and the output voltage can be adjusted from 0.95*VIN to 0.8V for a variety of applications including industrial and factory automation DC/DC converters and programmable logic control.
