Vishay monolithic SPDT analog switches save space for portable consumer products and medical electronics

Wednesday, October 18, 2017

The device has a bandwidth of -3dB at 700MHz with a power-down protection feature in an ultra-small, new μDFN6 package

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today announced the availability of a new single-chip SPDT analog switch for the first time in the industry with ultra-small size μDFN6 packages. The Vishay Siliconix DG3257 is ideal for switching analog and digital signals in portable consumer products and medical devices with a resistance of 5Ω at 4.2V and increased bandwidth, reduced parasitic capacitance, and power-down protection.

Recently introduced this device size 1mm x 1mm x 0.35mm, smaller than the mQFN6 package 29%, 36% smaller thickness. The DG3257's small footprint makes it easy for wearable devices such as smartphones, tablets and e-books, smart watches and fitness pedators, portable medical devices, camera and audio, Internet of Things applications, computers and peripherals, and data storage devices Can effectively save valuable PCB space.

Compared to the previous generation device at 300MHz -3dB bandwidth, DG3257 will increase the bandwidth to more than 700MHz. This 5Ω SPDT switch response time is very fast, opening time of 17ns, ultra-low delay of 100ps. The crosstalk at 240MHz is 32dB, 10dB lower than the competing product, and is -33dB. The device was fabricated using a submicron CMOS process with a parasitic capacitance of 9pF, a 50% reduction, and a CS (OFF) of 3pF.

DG3257 can handle two-way signal flow, with a lithium-ion battery can work. DG3257 operating voltage of 1.65V ~ 5.5V, in the shutdown state of the leakage current is less than 1μA. When the external power supply is unplugged, this function avoids excessive current consumption from the battery. The logic threshold of the device is 1.4V, guaranteed to be compatible with low-voltage TTL / CMOS devices. When working with low-voltage MCUs, the maximum power consumption of the switch is only 1.5μA, 90% lower than competing devices.

The device is RoHS compliant and can withstand more than 6kV ESD (human body model) with a latch current of 300mA and meets per JESD78 requirements.

The new analog switch is now available for samples and has been mass production, with bulk orders for ten weeks.
