
Analog Devices' Linear Technology Corporation announces the LTC1871X, a wide input range, current mode, boost, flyback or SEPIC controller that drives N-channel power MOSFETs with minimal externality Component. The LTC1871X is suitable for low to medium power applications, maximizing efficiency by taking advantage of the on-resistance of the power MOSFET without the need for a current sense resistor. The LTC1871X is optimized for high temperature environments up to 175 °C.
Its 2.5V to 36V input voltage range is ideal for high temperature applications such as oil exploration drilling equipment with power supplies ranging from 3V to 36V. The LTC1871X's electrical parameters are 100% tested up to 175°C and provide ±2% VREF accuracy over the entire temperature range of –40°C to 175°C. The flexibility of the LTC1871X for boost, SEPIC or flyback topologies is ideal for a wide range of battery-powered applications commonly found in downhole drilling applications.
The LTC1871X's Burst Mode® operation provides low quiescent current and is ideal for applications that require extended battery life. The dedicated Cu/Ni /Au bond pad coating ensures long life in high temperature environments, while the tiny MSOP-10 package provides a highly compact solution footprint.
