Σ-Δ ADC achieves AC and DC performance with a single configurable and reusable data acquisition package

Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) today introduced the low-power, high-performance 24-bit single-channel Σ-∆ ADCAD7768-1, which is ideal for accurate conversion of AC and DC signals. For condition monitoring, audio testing, acoustics, structural health, and modular automated electrical test equipment applications for predictive maintenance (vibration and power quality), the AD7768-1 enables highly efficient instrumentation solutions as well as clinical implementation. Medical health applications such as EEG/EMG/ECG.

The AD7768-1 sets a new industry standard with a single configurable and reusable data acquisition package that combines AC and DC performance. This allows instrumentation and industrial system designers to reuse the core acquisition chain to support multiple measurement variables for channel-to-channel isolated and non-isolated applications. A single converter supports multiple device platforms, performance points, and measurement ranges, reducing the number of reference designs while reducing cost and time to market.

The AD7768-1 integrates a power-scalable sigma-delta modulator and digital filter for simultaneous, accurate measurement of AC and DC signals in instrumentation applications. With high throughput and 110.8kHz input bandwidth, the AD7768-1 reduces test costs and test time, improving the quality and integrity of test measurements.

The AD7768-1 offers a wide range of digital filtering capabilities to meet the wide range of system requirements for high precision frequency domain measurements and low latency DC input measurements. In addition, each of the ADC's analog inputs features an integrated pre-charge buffer that greatly simplifies the design of external driver circuits. The fully buffered input on the reference provides a high impedance input to any external reference.
