Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) today announced the integration of an integrated precision solution for battery testing and chemistries that combines analog front-end, controller, and pulse-width modulator (PWM) Ion battery formation and classification system accuracy and efficiency. Compared to traditional technologies, the new AD8452 offers up to 50% more channels in the same space, expanding capacity and increasing battery yield. The switching technology used in the AD8452 recovers battery energy during discharge with up to 10 times the accuracy of traditional switching solutions. Higher accuracy means more batteries can be placed in the battery pack, which helps to extend battery life in applications such as electric vehicles. In addition, the device also combines superior detection and monitoring capabilities to effectively prevent over-charge and under-charge conditions that can cause battery failure, improving manufacturing safety. The AD8452 can save bill of materials (BoM) costs up to 50% for charging / discharging boards and system cost savings of up to 20%. The device features a companion system simulation demo board that reduces the cost of development engineering and time-to-market for test equipment manufacturers.

AD8452 Features
So that 20Ah and below the system can achieve battery formation / grading energy recovery, power efficiency up to 95%
Industry-leading current and voltage measurement accuracy, better than 0.02% at 10 ° C temperature change
Solution size compared to the previous generation of products reduced by 70
