To meet the wide range of industry needs for increased power density and increased efficiency, Diodes introduced the ZXGD3113 synchronous rectification controller. When paired with a MOSFET, the pairing combination replaces the high-loss Schottky rectifier in a power supply based on a ripple or resonant converter topology.
The ZXGD3113 controls external MOSFETs such as the 100V 16mΩ N-Channel DMT10H015LPS configured for ideal diode operation.Compared to high-loss Schottky rectifiers, this product eliminates the need for heat sinks to save space as efficiency increases.
The ZXGD3113 provides control for a low RDS (on) MOSFET by using a scaled-gate driver to achieve higher efficiency, enabling it to quickly turn off the synchronous MOSFET in Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM), but also in discontinuous Conduction mode (DCM) and critical conduction mode (CrCM) in the operation. Other features include low threshold voltages below 10mV that control the low RDS (ON) MOSFET and 1.5 / 3A peak source / drain current, respectively, to support the efficient driving of synchronous MOSFETs. The wide operating voltage range of 3.5V to 40V means the unit can be driven directly from the lowest 3.5V PSU output while providing enough margin to handle over-voltage spikes or operate on higher Vcc rails, such as 24V.
