Industry's First Digital Fully Integrated Regulator to Support SVID and PVID for Highest Efficiency and Minimal Size

Infineon Technologies AG introduces the newest family of integrated point of load power supplies (IPOLs) that combines ease of use and high power density. This is the industry's first fully integrated regulator with PMBUS, SVID and PVID capabilities for powering Intel CPUs, low current POLs, chipsets and ASICs / FPGAs. It saves up to 50% more space than traditional discrete power solutions and is the smallest solution of its kind.

The IR38163 / 5 and IR38363 / 5 are specifically designed to power servers from Intel Vccio and Vcmp and Intel chips that require SVID support. These devices do not require programming because they are preconfigured based on Intel requirements and specific digital addresses.

The IR38263 / 5 has a 3-bit parallel VID (PVID) for powering Intel chipsets PVNNs and FPGAs. It is ideal for telecom applications that require fixed frequency operation, as well as network communications and storage applications that require a large number of PMBus, accurate Vout and ultra-low ripple.

The IPOL device product family utilizes the latest OptiMOS ™ 5 technology and therefore has a distinct efficiency benefit. In addition, the small 7 mm x 7 mm PQFN Cu-clip package enables devices to operate up to 30 A at high frequencies without the need for a strong fan to dissipate heat. Pin compatible options are supported with or without PMBus support. The product family features Infineon's industry-leading PWM engine for ultra-low ripple and frequency jitter. They minimize noise and increase bandwidth while requiring less capacitance than other designs. Differential voltage sampling, wide margining range and 0.5% of the reference voltage accuracy, these features together to achieve 1% of the output voltage accuracy.
