As a global leader in circuit protection, Littelfuse today announced a family of transient suppression diode arrays (SPA® diodes) designed to protect electronic equipment from destructive electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage. The SP3042 series of bidirectional discrete TVS diode arrays includes a reverse transient suppression diode fabricated using silicon avalanche technology that safely absorbs the highest value of repetitive ESD specified by the IEC 61000-4-2 international standard (±30kV contact discharge). Shock without causing performance degradation. When there is an AC signal in the 01005 package with extremely high space utilization, the reverse configuration provides symmetric ESD protection for the data line. The low load capacitance of this family (0.35pF at VR=0V, typical) makes it ideal for high-speed interfaces such as HDMI2.0, USB2.0, USB3.0 and eSATA.
Typical applications for the SP3042 series include for MIPI cameras and displays, DisplayPort 1.3, eSATA, Internet of Things (IoT) modules, smartphones, external storage devices, ultrabooks/laptops, tablets/e-readers and security modules The high speed interface in the middle provides ESD protection.
"The SP3042 family of TVS diode arrays is small enough to protect the high-speed interface while minimizing the footprint on the printed circuit board," said Tim Micun, global product manager for Littelfuse's TVS Diode Array (SPA® Diode). “Low dynamic resistance allows it to respond quickly to prevent damage from ESD.”
The SP3042 series of TVS diodes offer the following key benefits:
• Two-way design ensures assembly flexibility when placing parts on a printed circuit board (PCB).
• Provides linear frequency response over the entire operating voltage range, which is an important consideration for high-speed interface protection.
• Low dynamic resistance (only 0.5Ω) allows it to respond quickly to ESD events.
• Comprehensive ESD protection for high speed interfaces up to 30kV and surge currents up to 2A (8/20μs).
