ISA2DW12 (and LSM6DSM, LSM6DSL and LSM303AH), a new family of low-power, high-performance MEMS products from STMicroelectronics, has a 12-bit output that can be set to low-power or low-noise priority mode with five settings per mode. The new product has a special feature that, with four settings for each mode, saves time required to wake up the system to check data, enabling efficient single-byte transfers, minimizing system power consumption and extending battery life. With a noise density as low as 90μg/√Hz, it is at least 25% lower than similar products on the market, helping to improve the measurement accuracy of next-generation health care, fitness, gaming, industrial sensing, environmental monitoring and other equipment.
The LIS2DW12 has a standby current of only 50nA. At a data output rate of 1.6Hz, the low-power mode operates at 380nA, so the load applied to the battery is negligible. The power supply voltage is 1.62-3.6V, and the power supply can be used with a coin battery or a button battery. System level power saving features include a 32-level FIFO, a built-in temperature sensor, and a programmable interrupt pin. The interrupt pins are used to detect free fall, wake up, active/inactive, 6D/4D directions, and click/double click events.
The LIS2DW12 offers high resolution, giving users the flexibility to optimize noise and power consumption in a small 2mm x 2mm x 0.7mm package.
