STMicroelectronics (ST; NYSE: STM) introduces two ready-to-use prototype boards to significantly reduce low-power wide-area Internet of Things (LPWAN) such as LoRaWANTM, Sigfox, WM-Bus, and 6LoWPAN The cost of evaluating the technology. The new board is equipped with the smallest and lowest power LoRaWAN module currently on the market, with a board size of no more than 13x12mm and a standby power consumption of 1.2μA.
The B-L072Z-LRWAN1STM32 LoRa® Discovery Kit is based on the integrated STM32L072CZ microcontroller (MCU) developed by Murata® and the integrated open module of the Semtech Sx1276 transceiver. The module's LoRa® modem features ultra-long-range spread spectrum communication and excellent performance. Anti-interference while minimizing operating current.
Because the module is open, developers can access the STM32L072 microcontroller and its peripherals such as ADC, 16-bit timer, LP-UART, I2C, SPI, and USB 2.0 FS (supporting BCD and LPM) in the design process The STM32L0 HAL and LL embedded software libraries can be used to further expand the board's functionality by selecting an expansion board from the STM32 Nucleo ecosystem or a wide variety of ArduinoTM expansion boards.
The B-L072Z-LRWAN1 kit includes an onboard debugger, 64-pin STM32 Nucleo morpho connector, Arduino-compatible connector and battery socket, giving users access to a completely free development ecosystem, including the MDK-ARM Integrated Development Environment (IDE), STM32CubeMX configurator and software tools, and ST's LoRaWAN protocol stack (I-CUBE-LRWAN). At the end of the first quarter of 2017, this board will also provide a protocol stack that supports Sigfox.
