Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE stock code: VSH) announced that the commonly used VY1 and VY2 series AC line ceramic safety capacitors have been added to the Mini Size series of Y5V ceramic dielectrics --- VY1...Y5V and VY2...Y5V. Vishay BCcomponents VY1...Y5V and VY2...Y5V are only 7.5mm in diameter, saving space, reducing cost and improving reliability for Class X1 (760VAC) / Y1 (500VAC) and Class X1 (440VAC) / Y2 (300VAC) applications In accordance with IEC 60384-14.4.
The device released today uses a Y5V dielectric with a high dielectric constant that reduces the diameter of the device without loss of capacitance.
VY1...Y5V and VY2...Y5V are suitable for RFI and AC line filtering in small power supplies, power adapters for home automation equipment, energy meters, household appliances, consumer electronics and industrial equipment. The Mini Size series of safety capacitors have capacitances from 1000pF to 10,000pF with tolerances of ±20% and operate over the -40°C to +125°C temperature range.
The device consists of silver-plated ceramic sheets and tin-plated copper-clad steel connecting leads with a diameter of 0.6 mm. Capacitors have vertical (in-line) bent-leg leads or straight leads, VY1...Y5V have a lead pitch of 10mm or 12.5mm, and VY2...Y5V have a lead pitch of 5.0mm, 7.5mm, 10.0mm or 12.5mm. The capacitors are RoHS and Vishay green, halogen-free, and the enclosure is made of UL 94 V-0 refractory epoxy.
