Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced that it will increase the operating temperature range of its HOTcap® K...H series automotive grade radial lead multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCC) to +200°C. The industry's highest temperature for Type II ceramic via devices.
The Vishay BCcomponents lead MLCC was found to operate for 500 hours in the temperature range of -55°C to +200°C. There is no time limit at +175°C. The device has good high temperature performance, capacity from 100pF to 1μF, and the capacitance tolerance is kept within ±5%.
Class I and II ceramic MLCCs use a very stable C0G dielectric with a capacitance variation of ±30 ppm/K and a X0U dielectric with a TCC of +22%/-56% over a temperature range of -55°C to +175°C. The X0U dielectric also meets the specifications of X7R. The capacitance change in the range of -55°C to +125°C is ±15%, reaching the X9V specification. The capacitance change in the -55°C to +200°C range is +22%/-82%. . For direct soldering on the lead frame or plastic injection molding, capacitors use straight leg or bent leads with 2.5mm and 5.0mm pitch. Lead diameter 0.5mm or 0.6mm, made of 100% tin-plated copper-clad steel.
Capacitors are lead-free, RoHS compliant, halogen-free, and coatings made of fire-resistant epoxy comply with UL 94 V-0.
