This advanced IC is designed to manage the charging of nickel-based batteries, including both Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) and Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd) cells, with precision and safety. One of the key features of the LTC4060EFE is its ability to autonomously charge up to four cells in series from a wide range of input voltages. Its integrated switching regulator operates at a fixed frequency of 550kHz, allowing the use of small, cost-effective inductors and capacitors, thus reducing the overall size and cost of the charging solution.

Moreover, its programmable charge current up to 4A allows for fast charging of high-capacity batteries. With its automatic recharge feature, the LTC4060EFE can initiate a new charge cycle if the battery voltage falls below a preset threshold, ensuring that the battery remains fully charged.
