MAX1707ETG+ High-Efficiency, Step-Up DC-DC Converter

The MAX1707ETG+ from Maxim Integrated is a versatile and high-efficiency step-up DC-DC converter designed to meet the power management needs of a wide range of applications. This compact, integrated circuit is capable of delivering a regulated output voltage from an unregulated input source, making it an ideal solution for portable devices where extended battery life is crucial.

The device operates over a wide input voltage range from 0.7V to 5.5V, allowing it to be powered by single-cell, two-cell, or three-cell alkaline, NiCd, NiMH, as well as one-cell Li-ion or Li-polymer batteries. It is specially engineered to start up with an input voltage as low as 0.7V and can provide a guaranteed output current of 2A (typical) with certain input conditions, which is suitable for powering devices with high peak current demands.

The MAX1707ETG+ features an adjustable output voltage from 2.5V to 5.5V, which can be set via external resistors. This flexibility makes it a perfect fit for a variety of applications, including handheld computers, PDAs, cellular phones, digital cameras, and other portable equipment. The high switching frequency of up to 1MHz minimizes the size of external components, particularly the inductor and capacitors, thus allowing for a compact power supply design.

With an efficiency of up to 96%, the MAX1707ETG+ ensures minimal power loss during the voltage conversion process, contributing to the extended battery life of the end product. It incorporates a range of protective features such as thermal shutdown, frequency foldback, and overvoltage protection, ensuring safe and reliable operation under various conditions.

The device is available in a 24-pin thin QFN package, providing a space-saving solution for space-constrained applications. Its enhanced thermal performance makes it suitable for high-power applications or environments with limited airflow.
