The MAX509ACAP+ is a precision, low-power, quad 8-bit voltage-output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) from Maxim Integrated, designed to provide high-performance digital-to-analog conversion in a compact package. This device is ideal for applications that require multiple DACs with a small footprint, such as process control, automatic tuning, and adjustable power supplies.

Featuring a 4-wire serial interface that operates at clock rates up to 10MHz, the MAX509ACAP+ is compatible with SPI, QSPI™, and MICROWIRE™, making it versatile for various microprocessor systems. The interface is designed to minimize the digital noise feedthrough from the digital to the analog circuitry, which is crucial for high-precision applications.

Each of the four DACs in the MAX509ACAP+ can be individually configured for a buffered or unbuffered output, as well as for a straight binary or two's complement input data format. This level of configurability allows designers to tailor the device to their specific needs without external circuitry, saving space and reducing complexity.

The MAX509ACAP+ operates from a single +2.7V to +5.5V supply, making it suitable for low-voltage systems and battery-powered devices. The power consumption is minimal, with only 175μA of supply current required, further extending battery life in portable applications.

For added versatility, the MAX509ACAP+ features a power-on reset circuit that clears all DAC registers to zero at power-up, ensuring a predictable start-up state. Additionally, the device includes a shutdown mode that reduces power consumption to just 1μA, ideal for power-sensitive applications.

Enclosed in a 20-pin SSOP package, the MAX509ACAP+ is designed to operate over the extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, ensuring reliable performance in various environments.
