The Maxim Integrated MAX222EWN is a high-performance RS-232 Interface IC that has been designed to facilitate serial communication in a wide range of applications. This integrated circuit is a part of Maxim's family of transceivers intended to meet the EIA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 communication standards, offering a reliable solution for transmitting data over long distances with its full-duplex capabilities.

With its built-in electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection for all transmitter and receiver input/output pins, it can withstand ±15kV ESD strikes, thereby offering robust protection against electrical disturbances that can occur in industrial environments.

Its receivers remain in a fail-safe state if the inputs are left open, ensuring that the receivers output a logic high if all inputs are floating, which is particularly useful in fault conditions.
