Description

The BOB-13906 is a Logic Level Converter Bi-Directional board from SparkFun Electronics. This small PCB allows you to safely step up or step down voltages between different logic levels, making it ideal for interfacing 5V microcontrollers with 3.3V sensors, or vice versa. The bi-directional design handles both input and output signals, simplifying communication between devices with differing voltage requirements.

Additional Details:

The BOB-13906 requires two voltage sources: a high voltage (HV) and a low voltage (LV). Each channel has two pins: one connected to the HV side and one connected to the LV side. When a signal is sent from the LV side to the HV side, the board steps up the voltage. Conversely, when a signal is sent from the HV side to the LV side, the board steps down the voltage. This is achieved using a simple resistor divider and a MOSFET, which automatically adjusts the voltage level based on the signal direction. The board is commonly used in projects where different devices with varying voltage requirements need to communicate seamlessly, such as connecting 5V Arduino boards to 3.3V sensors or peripherals.
