AD9361BBCZ-REEL: High-Performance, RF Agile Transceiver™

The AD9361BBCZ-REEL from Analog Devices Inc. is a highly integrated, wideband RF Agile Transceiver™ designed for use in 3G and 4G base station applications. Its programmability and wideband capability make it ideal for a broad range of transceiver applications. The device combines an RF front end with a flexible mixed-signal baseband section and integrated frequency synthesizers, simplifying design-in by providing a configurable digital interface to a processor.

Operating in the 70 MHz to 6 GHz range, the AD9361 supports a wide range of applications, including TDD and FDD operation, as well as multimode and multistandard wireless service. This transceiver is capable of channel bandwidths from less than 200 kHz to 56 MHz by changing the local oscillator (LO) frequency, variable gain elements, analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), and digital-to-analog converters (DACs).

The AD9361 is packaged in a compact 10 mm × 10 mm, 144-ball chip-scale package ball grid array (CSP_BGA), making it suitable for space-constrained applications. The integrated synthesizers provide a low power, high performance, fractional-N frequency synthesizer for the transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) signal paths. This allows for fine frequency selection, which is essential for flexible communication standards.
