The MAX9812LEXT+ from Maxim Integrated is a high-quality, low-noise, single/dual-input, 20dB fixed-gain microphone amplifier that is designed to provide a perfect audio amplification solution for portable devices. Featuring a low 1.4nA input-referred noise density and a low 200µA quiescent current, the MAX9812LEXT+ ensures crystal-clear audio amplification while maintaining energy efficiency. The device operates from a single 2.7V to 3.6V supply, providing designers with flexibility in power supply selection.

The MAX9812LEXT+ includes a complete microphone bias voltage circuit and a reference voltage for the low-noise input biasing. The amplifier also features a 100dB power-supply rejection ratio (PSRR), which further enhances the audio performance by minimizing the noise and interference from fluctuating power supplies.

This microphone amplifier is available in a tiny, space-saving 6-pin SC70 package or an 8-bump UCSP (Ultra Chip-Scale Package) that measures just 1mm x 1mm. Its small footprint allows designers to incorporate the MAX9812LEXT+ into designs with very limited PCB space without sacrificing functionality or performance.

Additional features of the MAX9812LEXT+ include a low THD+N (Total Harmonic Distortion plus Noise) of 0.015% at 1kHz, which ensures high-fidelity audio reproduction. The device also offers an active-low shutdown mode that reduces the supply current to 0.1µA, providing an effective power-saving mode during periods of inactivity.
